Community Outreach

One of the goals of the Sandhills Quilters Guild is to promote and perpetuate the art of quilting through outreach and education. We do this by providing quilts for local organizations and by displaying quilts at various venues throughout the year. We share our craft with our community by donating to:

Several Nursing and Children Homes:

All members are asked to donate at least one comfort quilt (approx. 36” x 45”) each year. During the year over 100 quilts and handmade pillowcases are given to several nursing and children’s homes in the Sandhills Area.

  • Dahlia Gardens

  • Pinehurst Nursing Health Care and Rehabilitation Center

  • Peak Resources Nursing and Rehabilitation Center

  • The Greens of Pinehurst

  • Friend to Friend

  • Sandhill’s Children’s Center

  • Falcon Children’s Home

  • Liberty Cancer Hospice

Habitat for Humanity:

Our Guild also make quilts specifically for Habitat for Humanity of the Sandhills. The quilts are given to homeowners at their dedication ceremony as a housewarming gift.  These quilts range in size from 50” x 65” up to any bed size.  Visit the Sandhills Habitat for Humanity.

Quilts of Valor:

Sandhills Quilters Guild is a proud member of Quilts of Valor Foundation whose mission is “to cover Service Members and Veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor”.  We meet one day per month to piece quilts that are approximately 60” x 80”. In person presentations to local veterans and active military are done throughout the year. Visit the Quilts of Valor Foundation.

44 quilts and 62 pillow cases have been donated so far this year!
